Get ready for an unforgettable experience!
The medical elective program in Kenya launched in 2023, welcoming its inaugural students from Cambridge University, UK. The program is coordinated by a European consultant surgeon who has been practicing in Kenya for a decade, providing experienced and dedicated leadership. Clinical supervision is offered by a team of doctors and nurses, many of whom bring valuable international expertise.
Students can undertake medical electives in both rural and urban locations throughout Kenya, gaining deeply immersive and hands-on clinical experience. This exceptional opportunity enables participants to enhance their medical skills while exploring the rich cultural and natural heritage of “Magical Kenya.”

Organisation
The major part of the rural elective programme is based in Laikipia where students spend some time at the local dispensary as well as engaging with the Borana Conservancy mobile unit. It's a unique opportunity to work in a very rural setting, with the chance of seeing some incredible wildlife and scenery.
Placements in urban settings such as Nairobi and Nanyuki town are organised depending on student preferences.
Accommodation
The programme is based at Olotala Farm in Laikipia. Accommodation is provided in a glamping setting. The tents are super comfortable, with flushing toilets, hot water showers and nourishing plant-based meals. For more information on Olotala please visit www.olotala.com
